A War with Ambiguity - A Review
I’m neither here nor there when it comes to ambivalence, but as someone who loves literature, I kind of have to find an appreciation for it. Especially when I’m reading. It’s not hard to find that appreciation, especially when I’m looking at something like Hamlet or anything Dickinson. But when I’m teaching, I don’t know, I just much prefer to live in the realm of the straightforward.
See, I like teaching ambiguity. I even like prepping for ambiguity. What I don’t like, is having a meeting where we discuss how we approach ambiguity. There have been multiple times where, with multiple texts, there has been discrepancies between teacher’s interpretation that rests solely on intentional ambiguity, and the solution? Teach one specific outlook. And as the kids consistently say “oh man, that’s tough.”
It’s no one’s fault. It’s just the design of teaching a normative curriculum. Oh well.
Anyway. I’m currently sitting and waiting for this office party. The room across from me is blaring meme music (e.g. “I Want Candy” and such). We are heading to some diner thing… This is becoming a diary.
I just need to go.
Sorry for such a short blog, but we’re coming to a break, so my life is becoming too much for a week or two.
So, this is the friday blog you don’t deserve, but! It’s the one you’re getting!
Shame I wasted a good topic on a short blog.
Have a good weekend. And as always, thanks for reading.
